Each month, we feature different products and regions, and sometimes we host a special guest. Watch our web site and Twitter site for updates. Also check our blog from time to time for interesting and off-beat commentary.
Also we have wine tastings on Friday afternoon from 3pm to 6pm, along with special cheeses, and other goodies.
Some Past Events
December 2008 - Olive Oil Tasting
We sampled two oils from Sicily, two from Tuscany, and one each from Lazio, Liguria, and Sardegna.
February 2009 – Cheese Tasting 2/8, 3-5pm.
We sampled a variety of cheeses and experimented with pairing the cheeses with fruits, nuts, honey, and mostarda,
February – Scrumptious Pantry Cooking Demo 2/28.
Lee Greene from Italy demonstrated her company's products for our customers. These are Tuscan artisanal products, from the area between Lucca and Florence. Piazza is proud to carry this line of products - just ask if you don't see them.
March - Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - March 18. We enjoyed about 70 people in the store for our ribbon cutting celebration.
April – Guest Chef - Andrew Evans. In conjunction with the St. Michaels Food & Wine Festival, Piazza Italian Market is hosting a tasting of our prepared foods made by Andrew Evans, along with Chef Evans' tips for great sauces. April 24, 3pm-5pm in the store.
May – Memorial Day Weekend Events -
Saturday May 23 - Wine Tasting, featuring three unusual wines and two cheeses
Sunday May 24 - Travel tips...ideas for planning your trip and take advantage of our in-store resource library
July – July 3 - Lee Greene with more tastings of the artisanal products from Scrumptious Pantry. July 11 - Special Tasting event for four summer wines from Mondo Vino, and also serving samples of Creminelli sausage.
August 7 - Verdi Stout (beer) with chili flakes from Birrificio del Ducato (see http://www.birrificiodelducato.com) with Italian "pretzels."
October - Risotto cooking demonstration - October 3. We cook a simple but amazing risotto using Carnaroli and Originario rices from the Scrumptious Pantry. We also tasted two Tuscan wines, a Chianti and a white blend from Buccia Nera.
